Henrietta Daisey

DAGSBORO - Henrietta Daisey passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017. She was born in Williamsville, on Aug. 26, 1925 daughter of the late Albert and Florence (McCabe) Hudson. Henrietta retired as a poultry grader for the USDA retiring in 1992 after 25 years of service and then worked for the state of Delaware with Eastern Shore Poultry until 2011, retiring completely at the age of 85 years young. She also owned A & H Ceramics where she taught ceramic classes at her home for several years. Henrietta was a 50 year member of the Dagsboro Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Sound United Methodist Church in Williamsville, attended the Bethel United Methodist Church in Dagsboro, and was a former member of the Evelyn Moomau Delmarva Doll Club. She enjoyed making crafts, creating beautiful ceramic pieces, painting and traveling. Henrietta and her husband, Alvin, spent many winters in Homestead, Fla., with their travel trailer. She enjoyed going on cruises and she even traveled internationally to Italy, France and Spain; however her favorite trip was to the Panama Canal. Henrietta was also known as a phenomenal cook, had a green thumb and also raised parakeets and Chihuahuas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alvin D. Daisey; her daughter-in-law, Jill Daisey; a grandson, Daniel Daisey; a brother, Samuel Hudson; and a sister, Cora Quillen. She is survived by her two sons, Bruce D. Daisey, of Dagsboro, and his companion, Ruth Sorrells, of Salisbury, Md.; Harry C. Daisey and his wife, Sally, of Seaford; a daughter, Eleanor Trimarco and her husband, Robert, of Newark; four granddaughters, Jennifer Techentine, Kelly Malloy, Mary Daisey Shockley and Molly Daisey; two grandsons, Dennis and Casey Daisey; and two step-grandsons, Robbie and Adam Richey; seven great-grandsons, Aidan, Sean, and Quinn Malloy, Leif, Wyatt and Trey Techentine and Levi Daisey Shockley; one great-granddaughter, Lucy Daisey Shockley; and two step-great-granddaughters, Samantha and Taylor Richey. She is also survived by a niece, Ruby Quillen; two nephews, Earl Quillen and his wife, Cindy and Albert Hudson and his wife, Sharon; and her cherished friends, Brenda Scott, Nancy Furbush, Jo Montague; and lifelong neighbor, Sara Bunting. A special thank you to Inez Davis, Billie Showell, Diane Lillard and Annie Mae Ford her caretakers. A visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2017 at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher St., Frankford, DE 19945, where the funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. with Rev. Clifton Toomey officiating. Interment will follow at Dagsboro Redmens Cemetery in Dagsboro. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Henrietta's name to Sound United Methodist Church, 37814 Sound Church Rd., Selbyville, DE 19975 or Bethel United Methodist Church, PO Box 147, Dagsboro, DE 19939.
