Hazel Mason Haddaway, 88

WORTON, Md. - Hazel Elizabeth Mason Haddaway, age 88, of Worton, died on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at Chester River Manor in Chestertown. She was the daughter of the late James Arthur and Rose Fogwell Mason. Her husband, Thomas A. Haddaway, Jr., predeceased her in 1991. She is survived by her stepdaughter, Carol Lee Flannery and her husband James of Bowie; her sister, Hilda Mason Dukes of Worton; a brother, Franklin Mason and his wife Gwynne of Worton; two step-granddaughters; and two step-great-grandsons. Mrs. Haddaway was born near Worton in 1921. She was a 1938 graduate of Chestertown High School. After graduation, she went to work for the Glen Martin Company in Baltimore. Upon returning home, she worked for Fox's Store on High Street in Chestertown. In the late 1940's she married Thomas Haddaway and they later owned and operated Tommy's Auto Dealership in Chestertown. A funeral service will be noon Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Chester Cemetery. Rev. Kenneth Hickman of Worton Methodist Church will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations to Worton Methodist Church c/o Cathi Blakeney, 120 Pine Street, Chestertown, MD, would be appreciated. Arrangements made by Marvin V. Williams, Jr., Funeral Director, Chestertown.
