CLAYTON Hassie M. Payton stepped gently into the arms of her Savior on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, with her loving husband and family at her side.
A lady of strong faith dedicated most of her life as a homemaker and later in life worked with her husband as caretakers for Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
Hassie enjoyed the sport of archery, gardening and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jack C. Payton, Sr.; three sons, Jack C. Payton, Jr. (Cheryl) of Harrington, Brian Payton (Shannon) of Clayton, Heath Payton (Ronda) of Frederica; and a daughter, Tammy Humphrey (Craig) of Marydel; two sisters, Diane Payton (Harry) of Mobile, Ala., and Janet Yerkie (Eddie) of Magnolia; 22 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Service will be 12 noon, Monday, March 20, 2017, at the Faith Baptist Church, 1575 Bryn Zion Road, Smyrna, DE 19977, where viewing will start at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will follow in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Faith Baptist Church.
