CLAYTON - Harvey Lowry of Clayton, passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014 in his home. He was born June 3, 1948 in Pembroke, N.C., the son of the late Nash and Zarah Lowry. He served his country with honor in the U.S. Marine Corp. He owned and operated Charles Chips of Kent and Sussex County for 14 years. He then retired after 20 years for the Delaware Dept. of Health Laboratory in Smyrna, Del.. During his time with the laboratory, he also worked for Wal Mart in Dover, Del. Harvey enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his Harley Davidson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Cassie Murphey. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Christine; his daughter, Yvonne Martine and her husband Bret of Dover; his son, Paul Lowry of Clayton; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Helen Cipolla and her husband Greg of Gibbstown, N.J. and Carol Domingo of Charleston, S.C.; and his brother, Kenny Lowry and his wife Kay of Bridgeton, N.J. A viewing will be held on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014 at 4 p.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St. in Smyrna. Funeral services will begin at 6 p.m. Burial with honors will be privately held on Monday, Nov. 3, 2014 at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Johns Hopkins, Kimmel Cancer Center, 750 East Pratt Street, Suite 1700, Baltimore, MD 21202 or to Compassionate Care Hospice, 702-B Kirkwood Hwy., Wilmington, DE 19805.
