Harvey Griffith Jr.

HOUSTON - Harvey "Dougie" Griffith Jr., of Houston, died Aug. 16, 2011. He was 44. Born in Easton, Md., on June 6, 1967, Mr. Griffith was the son of the late Harvey D. Griffith, Sr. and Gertrude Frances Mitchell Griffith. He grew up in Denton, Md., and had attended Caroline County Public Schools. He and his family had lived in Harrington, and Houston, for the past nine years. For the past five years, Mr. Griffith was a self-employed carpenter. He loved baseball and the Phillies, Harley Davidsons, fishing boating, exotic plants, nature, and had a salt water aquarium. But, most of all, he loved his wife and spending every moment he could with his two sons and the rest of his family. Mr. Griffith is survived by his wife, Jill R. Griffith of Houston; his two sons, Sean Griffith and Shane "Wittles" Griffith; three sisters, Carol A. Griffith of Denton, Barbara L. Arthur of Denton, and Mary E. Wyatt and her husband, Ricky of Greensboro, Md.; three nephews: Frankie Arthur, Hunter Arthur and Stephen Ott; his father-in-law, Wayne Beach; a sister-in-law, Pooie Breen; a brother-in-law, Frank Carter; a great niece and nephew, Kayla Ott and Zachery Ott; his best friend, Ronnie Hardee; and many aunts and cousins. He was preceded in death by a nephew, Jimmy Ott; and a great-nephew, Stevie Ott. A memorial service will be 2 p.m., Monday, Aug. 22, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second Street, Denton, where friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service. The interment will be in the DentonCemetery. The family requests for friends to send their memorial contributions to the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second St., Denton, MD 21629, to help defray funeral expenses.
