DENTON, Md. - Harold S. Bullock, of Denton, died Saturday, June 27, 2009, at the Caroline Nursing Home in Denton with hospice care. He was 82. Born in Felton, on July 11, 1926, Mr. Bullock was the son of the late Simeon Vanderbilt Bullock and Sarah Elizabeth Cahall Bullock. He moved to Denton in 1936 and was a 1943 graduate of Caroline High School in Denton. Mr. Bullock worked on the family farm until he graduated from High School, then he entered the U.S. Army and was sent to the European Theater. After World War II, he married his wife, Betty Asche Bullock of Denton on Jan. 19, 1946. He became a Central Office Technician for C&P (now Verizon) Telephone and retired in 1981. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. Known by many as "Haroldy," Mr. Bullock could be found enjoying Little League Baseball and Youth Soccer. He also liked woodworking in his work shop, gardening, and shooting sporting clays. In the past, he had been a member of the American Legion Caroline Post 29 and the Choptank River Yacht Club, both in Denton. In addition to his beloved wife, Betty, Mr. Bullock is survived by a sister, Jean Carter of Greensboro; and a special family, Vincent and Becky Manship in which he was a great fan of their two sons, Brice and Will, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Bullock, and four sisters, Margaret Ann Harris, Edith Baker, Marie Messick, and Esther Saulsbury. A funeral service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second Street, Denton where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The interment will be in the Denton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests sending memorial donations to the Caroline Hospice Foundation, PO Box 362, Denton, MD 21629.
