MILFORD - Glenn Dale Campbell passed away at home on Nov. 25, 2017.
Glenn was born on Nov. 27, 1922 in Footedale, Pa. to the late James Riley Campbell and Jennie Balsinger Campbell. He was their last born son of 11 children. During World War II, Glenn was a Seaman First Class in the U.S. Navy and served as a gunner's mate. He was a hard worker his whole life and was self-employed for many years and specialized in plaster and ceramic tile work. He then worked for Nanticoke Homes until his retirement. He continued to be active long after his retirement and loved to cut grass and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He loved listening to music in his last years and loved visits from his family, especially his newest great-grandchild, Elliott Jude. He will be dearly missed by all that loved him and will be remembered always for his huge heart and his great love for his family. Glenn was a member of the Milford Church of the Nazarene.
He was preceded in death by his son, Douglas "Dougie" Campbell; his parents, James Riley and Jennie Campbell; and his 10 siblings.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Lana Talley Campbell; his daughter, Jennifer Booker and her husband Douglas of Milford, his daughter, Donna Nash and her husband Grover of Milford; his son, Donald Campbell of Chesapeake, Va; 7 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, Dec. 4, 2017, at 1 p.m. at Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 N. W. Front Street, Milford, DE. Family and friends may visit from 12 to 1 p.m. A committal service will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017, at 1 p.m. at the Delaware Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, DE.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Compassionate Care Hospice Foundation, Inc., 248 East Chestnut Hill Road, Suite 4, Newark, DE 19713.
