Gladys I. Sullivan, 86

HARRINGTON - Gladys I. Sullivan, passed away Friday, June 19, 2009, in Bayhealth Medical Center, Milford. She was 86. She was born in Milford, to the late Frank B. and Myrtle C. Jones. Gladys retired from Kraft foods after 25 years, where she worked as a Packaging Machine Operator. In her younger years, Mrs. Sullivan worked in the "Spoon Mill" with her family in Milford. Mrs. Sullivan was a member of the Prospect United Methodist Church in Harrington. She was also a member of the Harrington Senior Center. Mrs. Sullivan enjoyed all needle crafts, including knitting and crocheting. She was active with the church Bible Study Groups and Ladies church group. Mrs. Sullivan enjoyed traveling whenever possible in her younger days. Her family was her life, she was a very kind, caring and God fearing person. Mrs. Sullivan was preceded in death by her husband, Harry M. Sullivan Sr.; parents, Frank and Myrtle Jones; sisters, Grace McIlvaine, and Agnes Orkin; and brothers, Floyd Jones and Franklin Jones. She is survived by sons, David "Wayne" Sullivan and wife Donna of Harrington, and Harry M. Sullivan Jr. and wife Kathleen of Magnolia; sister-in-law, Virginia Smith of Harrington; brother, Donald Jones of North Linthicum, Md.; sisters, Myrtle Berry of Milford, and Sarah Hargan of Felton; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral Services were 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Melvin Funeral Home. Visitation was 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2009. Interment was in Barretts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica. Donations can be made to Prospect United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 342, Harrington, DE 19952. Arrangements are by the Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington.
