Gilbert H. Collins Jr.

Collins, Jr., 83 MILFORD - Gilbert H. 'Jr' Collins, Jr. passed away Thursday, October 29, 2015 at Milford Center. He was born in Harmony, Md. on September 7, 1932, son of the late Gilbert H. Collins, Sr. and Blanche Hurlock Collins. His wife, of 54 years, Joyce Clawson Ashton Collins preceded him in death in 2007; as well as siblings, Irene Hasson, Evelyn Torbert, Virginia Coughenour, Harold E. Collins, William F. 'Bill' Collins, Norman Kelley and Edward Kelley. He worked for Red Star Express as a mechanic prior to retirement in 1996. He also worked for Masten's Trucking Company and T. I. E. He was very gifted and talented carving ducks and enjoyed collecting Delaware arrowheads. Jr also enjoyed hunting. He is survived by a brother, Donald L. Collins; a nephew, Mike Stevens and his wife Pat, whom took care of him; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November, 3, 2015 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front Street, Milford, where friends called one hour prior for a viewing. Interment was at Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton.
