Gertrude Mae Jones Ealy, 91

BRIDGEVILLE - Gertrude Jones Ealy, of Bridgeville, died Jan. 31, 2009, in Genesis Elder Care, Seaford. She was 91. Born Jan. 6, 1918, in Thompsontown, Md., she was the daughter of the late Norman and Bertha Coleman Jones. Gertrude was educated in Dorchester County Schools and worked as a domestic and devoted housewife. She was married to the late Rufus Ealy who died in 1966. She was a faithful member of the Kingdom Hall Jehovah Witness in Seaford. Survivors include four sons, Wendell (Marion) Jones, Federalsburg, Md., Randolph (Joyce) Jones, Hilton (Mary) Jones, Bridgeville, and Donald (Elizabeth) Ealy, Del Rio, Texas; one daughter, Linda (Charles) Ridley, Hampton, Va.; three brothers, Norman (Minnie) Jones, Rhodesdale, Md., James Jones, East New Market, Md., and Arthur (Betty) Jones, Seaford; one sister, Lucinda M. Jones, East New Market, Md.; a special sister-in-law, Eunice Lena Jones, Vienna, Md.; one uncle, George Coleman; daughter-in-law, Bessie Jones; 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, William Jones; three brothers, Marshall, Walter and Frost Jones; two sisters, Mary Jones and Nettie Dennis; brother-in-law, Gilbert Dennis; and sister-in-law, Priscilla Jones. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Main Street, Hurlock, Md., where friends may call two hours prior to the service. Interment will be in the Thompsontown Cemetery, Thompsontown, Md. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook may be signed at www.benniesmithfuneralhome.com.
