Gerald R. Moore

GEORGETOWN - Gerald R. Moore, of Georgetown, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2011, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. He was 59. Gerald was born in Milford, the son of Norma Jean (Wright) Moore of Oak Orchard and the late Gerald Rufus Moore. He was a purchasing agent for Mountaire Farms for 26 years. He was an avid hunter, a Dale Earnhardt fan and enjoyed spending time with his son and grandson. He was a member of the Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge and the Seaford Moose Lodge. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 26 years, Sandra Montgomery Moore; his children, Richard Carey and his wife Terry of Milton, James Connell and his wife Cheryl of Eldersburg, Md., and David Connell of New Castle; two sisters, Susan Mumford of Millsboro, and Geraldine D'Allesandro of Magnolia; and one brother, Harry Cederholm of Newport; and six grandchildren, Richard, Hunter and Austin Carey and Amber, Casey and Jessie Connell. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at Crossroad Community Church, 20684 State Forest Road, Georgetown, where friends may call Friday after 10 a.m. Friends may also call Thursday night Sept. 1 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown. Interment will be in Millsboro Cemetery, Millsboro. Arrangements handled by Short Funeral Services, Georgetown.
