Roland Leager, 83
SUDLERSVILLE, Md. - George "Ronnie" Roland Leager passed away in the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pa.
Mr. Leager was born in Chestertown, Md. August 18, 1938 the son of the late George H. Leager and Virginia "Thompson" Leager. His passion for farming started as a young boy and eventually lead to him purchasing the farm in Sudlersville where he has resided the last 53 years milking and raising dairy cows, as well as raising and training Standardbred race horses. Over the years he raced many nice horses including his pride and joy "Slick Tony". Mr. Leager also served in the national guard for 9 years, member of the Farm Bureau, Holstein Association and the U.S. Trotting Association.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by three sons, George "Ricky", Arthur and James Leager; his first wife, Jean Ann Miller; and two brothers, Clifton and Larry Leager.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Nola Leager of Sudlersville, Md.; one son, Steven Leager of Sudlersville, Md.; two daughters, Laura Dove of Florida, Trish Savidge of Arizona; five sisters, Mary Layton of Harrington, Del., Anne Boyles of Marydel, Md., Beverly Poore of Earlville, Md., Brenda Hahn of Sudlersville, Md., Barb Wallace of Sudlersville, Md.; and four grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Sat., Nov. 6, 2021 at 1 p.m. in Church Hill Cemetery in Church Hill, Md.
