George E. MacDonald, of Dover, DE passed away on Monday, March 10, 2025 at AccentCare Inpatient Hospice Center at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE.
George was born in Pawtucket, RI on April 4, 1948 son of the late William MacDonald and the late Dorothy (Fawcett) MacDonald and graduated from Whittier High School Class of 1966 in Whittier, CA. Shortly after graduating from high school, George joined the United States Air Force, serving his country for 20 years retiring as E-6 Tech Sergeant.
Following his retirement from the United States Air Force, George worked in restaurant management before his second retirement. George was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching football and baseball where he rooted for his favorite baseball team, the Los Angeles Dodgers. He also loved to fish and golf where he made countless friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Kim MacDonald and his five siblings. George is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Marjorie (DelMonte) MacDonald; a son, Gregory MacDonald of Smyrna, DE and a daughter, Jennifer Hendrickson and her husband, Col. James Hendrickson of Springfield, VA and three grandchildren, Anthony Hendrickson, Benjamin Hendrickson and Ronnie James Pleasanton, Jr.
A funeral service was held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at the Frankford Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 43 Thatcher St., Frankford, DE 19945, where friends and family gathered after 10:30 AM. Interment followed at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, DE.
