MILTON - George C. Marvel, 52, of Milton, left our lives on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, at home after a short illness. George C. was born in Milford Memorial Hospital, Aug. 8, 1958, raised in Milton, son of Ralph Jay and Alice (Sammons) Marvel. He graduated from Cape Henlopen High School in 1976. He started working for Southern States his senior year in school, working out of Seaford, then to Milford, working for them over 33 years. He was a propane driver. He loved his work and cared for his customers. George loved the outdoors, get-togethers with friends and family. He loved to throw horseshoes and had many trophies to show it, was a bowler at Milford Lanes, but his love was deer hunting with his friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Jay Marvel in 1987; and mother, Alice (Sammons) Marvel in 1988. George is survived by his loving wife, Judy E. (Foskey) Marvel of Milton, together for 17 years; two children, James (Jigger) Porter of Milton, and Kelly Lynn Webb and companion Matthew Willey of Milton; two brothers, Gary Marvel and wife Marianne Fine of Italy, and Jay Marvel of Stockley; two grandchildren that he loved with all of his heart, Tyler Bryce Porter of Milford, and Julianna Elizabeth Willey of Milton; aunts, uncles, in-laws, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral Services will be 1 p.m., Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, where friends may call Sunday night from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milton.
