FELTON - George Brown, of Felton, died Friday, July 30, 2010, at Silver Lake Center, Dover. He was 87. Mr. Brown served his country proudly in the United States Navy for 4 years during WWII. When the Korean War broke out, he re-enlisted in the Navy and eventually retired from the Navy after 23 years, retiring in 1968, as an aviation electrician. After the service, he worked in the US Post Office in Atlantic City until he retired in 1985. Mr. Brown enjoyed watching the Red Sox play on TV. He was a devoted family man who lived to take care of his family and wife of 65 years. In addition to his parents, Michael and Katherine Brown, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Brown; daughter, Joyce E. Thompson; and son, George M. Brown. He is survived by a son, Curtis S. Brown of Felton; son-in-law, Charles "Tom" Thompson Sr. of Chare City, Va.; daughter-in-law, Beverly Brown of Suffolk, Va.; grandchildren, Charles T. Thompson Jr., Larissa Brown, and Shara Brown; and great-grandchildren, Deme' and Courtney. A Memorial Mass will be 10 a.m., Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, at the Dover Air Force Base Chapel. Interment will be at a later date at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Bear. Arrangements are by the Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington.
