Geneva Frances Bowden, 85

SEAFORD - Geneva Frances Bowden of Seaford died Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. She was 85.

Mrs. Bowden was born Nov. 8, 1921, in Chincoteague, Va., daughter of the late Thomas G. and Ruth O'Neal Jester.

She liked to read and was a writer. She sold one of her stories. She also liked to sew and do embroidery, arts and crafts and painting. She won Delaware's Senior Water Color contest in Dover.

She was a loving mother and grandmother. She cared for many people in her home including her family and others who needed a place to stay.

Mrs. Bowden loved the Lord and attended Atlanta Road Alliance Church, Seaford.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer L. Bowden in 1988; three sons, Thomas Bowden, David Bowden and John Douglas Bowden; and two grandsons, David L. Bowden Jr. and Thomas M. Bowden.

Mrs. Bowden is survived by five children; Joyce B. Willon of Bridgeville, Charles Bowden of Wilmington, Donald H. Bowden of Charlotte, N.C., Geraldine "Geri" Bowden of Greenwood and Frances "Jane" Jefferson of Bridgeville; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Dix of Salisbury, Md., and Mary Benton of Virginia Beach, Va.; two brothers, James Jester of Gilbert, Ariz., and Robert Jester of Homosassa, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be noon Thursday in Fleischauer Funeral Home, West Market Street, Greenwood, where friends may call one hour earlier.

Burial will be in Downing Cemetery, Oak Hall, Va.
