
FREDERICA - Geary Wayne Mosley passed away Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018 at home.
He was born Oct. 29, 1951 in Milford, Del. to the late Nelson Mosley and Elva Hansley Mosley and raised in Frederica and graduated from Felton High School.
Geary first became a member of the Dover Police Family as a Cadet on Jan. 25, 1971. He became a Dover Police Officer on Oct. 29, 1972. He rose through the ranks to become a Captain and retired on Oct. 30, 1997 after 25 years of dedicated service. During that time he served as a Patrol officer, a Motor Officer and as the Commander of the Special Operations Response Team, a Patrol Shift Commander, Patrol Unit Commander, Traffic Unit Commander, the Special Services Unit Commander and the Administrative Division Commander. In 1982 Geary and another officer responded to a call of a vehicle that plunged into 8 foot deep water and was rapidly sinking. Geary jumped into the icy waters and aided the elderly couple out of the vehicle and safely to shore. In 1988 he received an Outstanding Service Award from the Wilmington Police Department where he assisted their Drugs, Vice and Organized Crime Unit as an undercover officer making over 100 drug related arrests. Geary also received a distinguished Unit Commendation in 1993 while on SORT where he was part of the apprehension of an armed and barricaded felon. He was an avid fisherman and a member of the Police Fishing Club. He was also a graduate of the 184th session of the FBI National Academy.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Christine Mosley.
He is survived by his brothers, James Mosley of Frederica and Dennis Streett of Wilmington; step children, Desiree and Ronald Charest; step grandchildren, Isabella and Brady Nicol and Kaylee and Mason Charest.
A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by a Funeral service at 12 Noon, Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018 at Delaware State University Campus, 1200 N. Dupont Highway, Education & Humanities Building, Dover, DE 19901.
