LEWES - Garnet Robert Mutter, II passed away Sunday morning Oct. 14, 2018 at home after a battle with cancer. He had just celebrated his 70th Birthday two weeks prior.
Mr. Mutter was born Sept. 29, 1948 in Wilmington to Donald R. Mutter Sr. and the late Betty Foster Mutter.
He served our country in United States Army. Mr. Mutter was owner and operator of Creative Construction, working mostly on residential buildings as a general contractor/carpenter. He enjoyed fishing, blue grass music, tinkering in his wood shop and his late Golden Retrievers. Mr. Mutter was a member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge and Redmen Tony Tank Tribe #149 of Fruitland, Md.
Garnet is survived by his father, Donald R. Mutter Sr. of Newark; his best friend and wife of 28 years, Elizabeth A. Ralph Mutter of Lewes; his daughter, Michele Pope and her husband Greg and grandchildren of Smyrna; his son, Michael Mutter and grandchildren of Belton, Mo; special sons and caregivers, Dwayne Barnes and Greg Conhiser of Lewes; special daughter, Sherry O'Rourke and husband Kelly; granddaughter, Ashley Warren; and grandson, Kelly O'Rourke of Middletown; brother, Tim Mutter and his wife Cindy and family of Smyrna; sister, Marjorie Oliver and her husband Colin and family of Canberra, Australia; sister-in-laws, Laura Passwater, Louise Norris and Beverly Jones; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Donna Mutter.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Friday, Oct. 26, 2018 at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE 19701.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Cancer Society or American Diabetes Association.
