Freda K. Legates

FELTON - Freda K. Legates passed away at Genesis HealthCare Milford Center on Friday, July 22, 2016. She was born in Harrington, daughter of the late Byron Gooden Kemp and Cora Bell Long Kemp. She graduated from Harrington High School, Class of 1957. Mrs. Legates worked for the State of Delaware-Del DOT over twenty years and retired in 1991. She was a Member of Harrington Moose Lodge 534 and enjoyed going to the slots. Freda also enjoyed socializing with the local patrons at the Stargate Restaurant. Her husband, Franklin Legates preceded her in death, along with four siblings, Byron "Buddy" Kemp, Norman Kemp, Mildred E. Welch and Martha "Pete" Poore. She is survived by three siblings, Harry Kemp, of Felton, Robert "Bobby" Kemp, of Harrington, and Thelma M. Stubbs, of Harrington; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July, 28, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, Main Street, Felton, where friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. for a viewing. Burial will be at Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Calvary Wesleyan Church, 240 Delaware Avenue, Harrington, Delaware 19952.
