Fred Chambers, Sr., 86
CLAYTON, DE - Fred Chambers, Sr. passed away unexpectedly Sunday, December 17, 2023.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sally; siblings, George (Pam), Jane, Patricia (Richard), Frank, and Ronald (Paula); children, Rhonda, Fred Jr. (Alysia), Maureen (Greg), Jeff (Dawn), and Gale (Nathan); 11 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and countless friends.
Fred was born in West Chester, Pennsylvania on August 22, 1937, to the late Hilton and Gladys Chambers. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1957 and served a combined 26 years of active and reserve military service. The only thing he talked about more was his adoration for the love of his life, Sally, with whom he was able to share an admirable 59 years of marriage. He never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, James, Joyce, and Jerry.
Viewing will be held at Faries Funeral Home, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, DE, on Saturday, December 23rd at 11 AM with service to follow at 1 PM. Burial will be private. A celebration of his life will follow immediately after the funeral service in the adjacent social hall.
