
Frank Wolenter, 92
MARYDEL, Del. - Frank Wolenter passed of natural causes on December 8, 2020.
Mr. Wolenter was born in Newark, N.J. and received his early education from Jefferson Jr. High in Vaux Hall, N.J. and attended Greensboro High School in Maryland after moving to Marydel, Del.
Frank was a WWII veteran serving in the European Theatre of Operation, 24th Constabulary, Germany.
Mr. Wolenter worked for Leeds Travel Wear for 15 years. When their plant closed he went to work at the Delaware Hospital for Chronically Ill for ten years. He then transferred to Health & Social Services for the mentally challenged at the Woodside Day Rehabilitation Center; where he retired.
Gardening and flowers brought Frank happiness. He enjoyed and won several roller skating trophies. He was an officer of the Templeville Grange. He was a member of the Levis and Lace Square Dance Club of Dover. He loved to travel and volunteered at Mamie Warren Maturity East of Kenton and the Modern Maturity Center in Dover.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Anna Wolenter; a brother, Michael Jr.; his sister, Helen Gurrera; and niece, Carol and Ron Jones.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Elenore; nephews, Allen and Gary Wolenter; great nieces, Kendra McCaslin and Traci Anders; great nephews, Guy and Michael Jones; extended family and friends.
Funeral service Monday, Dec. 14, 2020, 12 noon at Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming, Del. where friends may call one hour prior. Interment to follow Templeville Cemetery, Templeville, Md. Due to covid- 19 please wear a mask and social distance.
