Francis C. 'Frank' Coursey Sr., 87 CHESTERTOWN, Md., - Francis C. "Frank" Coursey Sr., of Chestertown, died Thursday, August 21, 2008 in his home. He was 87. Frank was born on June 12, 1921, and raised in Barclay, son of the late Charles E. and Eva Skinner Coursey. He was a U.S. Army veteran earning the rank of sergeant during WWII, landing on Normandy Beach under the command of Gen. George W. Patton and fought with his 774th tank battalion in all five major campaigns across Europe. He had worked at Dover Air Force Base in Civil Service and co-owned the Country Lounge in the 1970's. In 1979 he began his 29 year career with Dixon Valve and Coupling in Chestertown, retiring in 2008. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church where he enjoyed polishing the altar brass. His life memberships include the VFW 652 in Millington, Walter L. Fox Post 2 and Voiture 244 40/8 in Dover, Del. Frank enjoyed going to Spence's Sale, Saturday mornings breakfast at Boscov's in the Dover Mall and watching Yankees baseball. Mr. Coursey was preceded in death by his first wife of 18 years, Virginia Wilson in 1964; great-grandson Dallas Wooldridge and a brother Charles Coursey. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Pamela Connolley Coursey; a son Francis Butch Coursey and his wife Sally of Church Hill; daughter Debbie Walker of Kenton, Del.; step-son, Jimmy Wilson and his wife Gail of Dover, Del.; sister Mary Ann Casey of Barclay; eight grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 West Cross St. Galena, where friends may call Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial in Chester Cemetery. Memorials may be offered to Chester River Home Care & Hospice, 6602 Church Hill Rd, Chestertown, MD, 21620
