Steenburgh Stubb, 90 MAGNOLIA - Frances Louise Steenburgh Stubbs peacefully died on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Capital Rehabilitation home in Dover. She was 90 years old. She was married to Marshall "Jack" Stubbs for over 60 years. Her husband predeceased her by ten years. Frances lived in Magnolia for most of her life. The family lived in the area for many generations. Her great grandparents, Avery and Louisa, lived in the area for many years. Her grandparents built the home in which she lived with them and her parents. She continued to live in that home after her parents and grandparents died with her husband and daughter. She is survived by Patricia Louise Lister, daughter, and John Wesley Lister, son-in-law, of Camden, and several nieces and nephews. Frances was a very active member of the Magnolia United Methodist Church until her health and mobility made that impossible. She, like her mother, taught Sunday school. She was a director of the Junior Choir and Sunday School Superintendent for many years. She also served as a church administrative representative for many years. Frances lived in Georgia briefly with her husband during World War II while he was stationed in Moultrie. She was a legal secretary and an administrative secretary for a candy manufacturer. She also worked at Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles in Kent County. In later years, she worked at the Magnolia School as a secretary and later at Caesar Rodney School District as a senior secretary. She retired from the school district in 1983. One of the best descriptions of Frances is that many people knew her as "MOM". Remembrance services will be 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2012 in the Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus Street, Dover, where family and friends may call one hour before the time of the service. Burial will be at Barratt's Chapel, Frederica. Letters of condolences may be sent to www.delmarvaobits.com or traderfh@aol.com In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the Magnolia United Methodist Church would be appreciated.
