Thompson, Jr.
Forest Osro Thompson, Jr. was born on May 21, 1945, to the late Forest Osro Thompson, Sr. and Lena Mae (Welch) Thompson in Bastrop, LA. He was the youngest of three children.
Forest always had a love of science and graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in Physics. He enlisted in the United States Army after graduation and received an officer's commission. He served in the Vietnam War as part of the signal corps, where he would be awarded a Meritorious Service Medal and a Bronze Star.
After being honorably discharged in 1979, Forest continued to pursue his interest of science and worked as a nuclear physicist for Kaman Sciences before wrapping up his career at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, where he retired in 2004.
Besides his parents; Forest was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Paula Joyce (Coleman) Thompson. After her death earlier this year, he just wasn't the same and missed her dearly. His family is comforted knowing they are now together again.
He is survived by his sister, Katherine (Kat) Blaum of Huntsville, AL; brother, Buford (Buzzie) Thompson of Clarksburg, TN; son, Forest (Chris) Thompson of Honey Brook, PA; daughters, Mary Ottman of Austin, TX and Heather Laskey of Camden, DE; grandchildren, Kayla Frey, Charles Laskey VI, Carolyn Laskey and Emma Thompson.
In lieu of flowers or donations, Forest would have wanted those who thought of him to enjoy an ice-cold Coke and watch the movie "Star Wars", as it was his favorite of all time.
"Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those around you who transform into the force". - Yoda.
