DOVER - Florence Marie Wood, of Dover, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2012, at home. She was 85. Mrs. Wood was born Dec. 5, 1926, in Reading, Pa., to the late Harry and Mary Keim Miller. Florence was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and grandmother. She lived in Spain, Japan, Texas, Oklahoma, New Jersey, and Delaware. Her late husband, Donald M. Wood, served in the US Air Force for over 30 years. This gave her the opportunity to meet people of different cultures and experience many wonderful adventures. She was creative in arts and crafts, loved to bowl, shop, and travel. She loved Delaware because she was close to family, and loved Delaware's beauty. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald in 2003; her beloved daughter, Mary Jane; and by five brothers, Harry, John, Leroy, Dick, and Chet; and three sisters, Hazel, Peg, and Mary Jane. She is survived by two sons, Michael Wood and wife Lorraine of Dover, and Donald Wood and wife Sheryl of Solvang, Calif.; six grandchildren, Graham Wood and wife Mary of Eagle River, Alaska, Justin Wood of Dover, Corey Collier and wife Sherri of Townsend, Jessica Mills and husband Rick of Dover, and Libby Wood and Chelsea Wood of California; sisters-in-law, Ruth Miller and Jess Miller, both of Reading, Pa.; and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a visitation Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m., at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover. Funeral Services will 11 a.m., Thursday, March 15, at Theo C. Auman Funeral Home, 247 Penn St., Reading, Pa., where friends may call Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum, Laureldale, Pa. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to VITAS Hospice, 100 Commerce Dr # 302 Newark, DE 19713; or Alzheimer's Association, 100 S. Main St. #211, Smyrna, DE 19977.
