DOVER, DE - Everett Richard Outten passed away on April 25, 2022. After several months of declining health, Everett died peacefully in his sleep.
Everett was born on January 7, 1937 in Greenwood, Delaware, to parents Harold and Georgianna Outten. He was the youngest of seven children and was affectionately nicknamed by an older sibling "Little Chick" for his light blond hair and working on their family farm. The name "Chick" stayed with him through the years and is what his close friends and family members called him. He graduated from Greenwood High School in 1955. Upon graduation he worked for O.A. Newton in Bridgeville then in 1963, began a 32-year career working as a package machine mechanic at Kraft Foods, retiring in 1995.
Everett lived life to its fullest! He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and in the early years took many camping trips to various destinations including Mount Rushmore, Niagara Falls and Outer Banks as well as multiple annual camping trips to Cherrystone, VA! He loved fishing, boating, water/snow skiing, motorcycle riding, NASCAR, traveling and enjoyed hosting many parties at his family pool. In addition, he was also a member of the Dover Elks Lodge and Loyal Order of the Moose. Upon his retirement in 1995, he purchased a new Harley Davidson Road King and spent the winters in Daytona Beach, FL with his wife.
Everett was preceded in death by his oldest son, Richard "Dale" in 2012; and his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Jo Anne Outten in 2014, to whom he was married for 57 years.
He is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Anderson (Dean) of Seaford, DE and Laura Miller (John) of Dover, DE; and son, Steve Outten (Shawna) of Dover, DE; six grandchildren: Jay, Elliott and Kyle Outten, Jennifer Zeller, Colby and Justin Miller; as well as five great grandchildren.
There will be a Celebration of Life held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 in Pippin Funeral Home, Inc., 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, DE; where family and friends may view one hour before. Services by the Dover Elks Lodge # 1903, will precede the religious service. Burial will follow in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington, DE.
