DOVER - Eugene T. "Gene" Moore, of Dover died Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, at Bay Health, Kent General Hospital in Dover, surrounded by his loving family. He was 78 years old. Gene was born July 3, 1935 in Dover, Delaware to Clarence Eugene, and Beatrice Rash Moore of Camden. He was raised in Camden and has always lived in the Dover area. He was a 1953 Graduate of Caesar Rodney High School. He was retired from the Truck Parts Business and he was a lifetime member and Past President of the Camden-Wyoming Fire Company. Gene never met a stranger, and he loved talking about his wonderful childhood days spent on his grandfather, Thomas Rash's Farm in Wyoming. He joked about changing all of his nieces and nephews diapers and riding them down the stairs on his lap. Gene loved hanging out with his many friends and family, playing cards, attending his monthly class reunion luncheons, mornings at Dunkin Donuts, and especially hanging with his "Buddy", his nephew Butch. In addition to his parents, Clarence Eugene & Beatrice Rash Moore, he was preceded in death by his brother, Benjamin F. Moore, Sr.; and a niece, Mary Agnes Smalley. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Carey Moore, of Dover; his nieces and nephews, Cindy (Michael) Warren, of Woodside, Benjamin F. (Janine) Moore, of Wyoming, Michele (Arthur "Chuck") Weeks of Dover, Frances Eugene "Butch" (Crystal) Moore, of Wyoming, Susan (Rick) Hudson, of Dover, Deborah Carey, of Dover, Denise Carey, of Florida, Jim Smalley, of Magnolia, Janet (Ralph) Smith, of Bear, Jamie (Steve) Basler, of Dover, Anne (Jim) Phelps, of Virginia, Joyce (Dave) Spicer, of Magnolia, and many more great and great-great nieces and nephews, and his loving four legged lap warmer, Fifi. Gene was a friend to many, and loved by everyone. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road Rt.10, Dover, DE, where friends may call between 9:00 & 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Camden Wyoming Fire Company, P.O. Box 186, 200 E Camden- Wyoming Ave, Camden-Wyoming, DE 19934.
