Eugene 'Gene' H.
Porter, 84
HARRINGTON - Eugene "Gene" H. Porter passed away at home surrounded by his family, on Thursday, December 10, 2020. He was the son of the late Harvey and Myrtle Porter.
Gene proudly served 29 years in the Army National Guard. He was also a member of the Harrington Moose Lodge, where he and his late wife Joyce, enjoyed country line dancing and the Harrington High School Alumni.
Gene was a laid back, easy going man who enjoyed being outside whether it was cutting his grass or tending his garden. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing softball. Gene enjoyed the older style country music and watching Nascar. He will be remembered as man who enjoyed joking around, teasing others, with a deep love for his family.
In addition to his parents: Gene was preceded by his loving wife of 59 years, Joyce A. Porter.
Gene is survived by his sons, Darrell (Cynthia) Porter and Jeff (Brenda) Porter; grandchildren, Jake Porter, Nicole Porter, and Cole Porter; and extended family.
Services will take place at the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy, Harrington, on Friday, December 18, 2020, at 12 p.m. Interment will take place immediately after the funeral at the Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington. A visitation for family and friends will take place at the funeral home on one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to Delaware Hospice in Gene's honor.
