MILLSBORO - Esther M. Hudson, 91, of Millsboro, passed away peacefully at home on June 8, 2011. Born and raised in Millsboro, she was the daughter of the late Joseph B. and Elizabeth B. Hudson Marvel. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Alton "Pitty" Hudson, in 1991. Mrs. Hudson worked for over 40 years for the Farmer's Bank of Delaware, holding numerous positions including Assistant Cashier and Trust Officer. She was a member of American Legion Post 22, serving as Secretary, was a Life Member of Sussex Pines Country Club, and an active member of United Methodist Women. She was an avid University of Delaware football fan, and held season tickets during her married years. She loved traveling, family celebrations and was an avid golfer. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Maxine Hudson of Millsboro; and her niece, Sue Pepper-Whapham, (Vince) of Georgetown; and a nephew, Joseph B. Marvel II "Butch" (Holly). Also survived by great-nieces, Shannon E. Marvel, and Kelsey A. Marvel; and nephews, Eric B. Pepper, Joseph E. Pepper, and Joseph Michael Marvel. She is also survived by many special friends in the area. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded by two brothers, Joseph L. Marvel and Robert Marvel. A funeral service will be noon, Saturday, June 11, 2011, at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call one hour prior for visitation. The Rev. Ed Kuhling will officiate. Interment follows at Millsboro Cemetery. Flowers are welcomed, or for those wishing to make a memorial contribution, the family suggests the Grace United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 566, Millsboro, DE 19966.
