HARRINGTON, Del. - Erwin Lee Rogers passed away at 7:20 p.m. on Friday, June 3, 2022, at Harrison Senior Living in Georgetown, Del. where he had resided for the past 15 months.
Erwin was born June 29, 1944, in Belfast, Maine the son of the late Franklin S. and Elizabeth J. (Leadbetter) Rogers. In 1959, he moved with his family to Harrington, Del. where he became a lifelong Harringtonian! He attended Harrington High School and went out for the cross country team. He had a knack for finding shortcuts through the woods that allowed him to finish the race earlier. He loved the Fairgrounds, especially during Fair season, where one could see him admiring the horses and farm tractors. He enjoyed driving tractors in parades and also attending "Old Car" shows with numerous friends. Above all, Erwin loved the Lord and reciting his favorite scripture John 3:16. He attended 300 Church (formerly Harrington Baptist Church). Erwin was a very mannerly individual like his parents and would do most anything for people, especially pray for them.
He enjoyed working at both Meatland and Arby's in Harrington where he would ride his bike from home to work. He would greet people as they came into both stores. What a community servant! He did likewise when he worked at Byler's Store in Harrington where he loved ice cream.
In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Wayne Rogers.
Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Linda Collins Maxwell and her husband George; a brother, Dennis Alan Rogers; as well as several nephews, nieces, cousins and close friends.
A Celebration of Erwin's Life will take place at 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at the 300 Church, 111 East Liberty Street, Harrington to honor him.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the 300 Church, 111 E. Liberty St., Harrington, DE 19952.
Arr. by McKnatt, Carpenter & Baker Funeral Home, Harrington. Letters of condolence may be shared with the family at www.loflandandmcknatt.com.
