Eric Caleb Watson

PLAINFIELD, N.J. - Eric Caleb Watson transitioned from labor to reward suddenly, but peacefully, at his home on July 17, 2016. Eric was born in Milford, Del. to the late Elwood J. and Susan F. Watson on July 24, 1957 and was a 32 year resident of Plainfield, N.J.. Mr. Watson was employed as the Director of Plainfield Public Works and Urban Planning, and previously as the Executive Director of the Plainfield Municipal Utility Authority for 16 years. Mr. Watson was a graduate of Rutgers University, Livingston Campus and completed graduate coursework at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government. Mr. Watson was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated and Stone Square Lodge #38 Free & Accepted Masons, Prince Hall Affiliates, 32nd Degree and Past Potentate Golconda, Temple #24 Mystic Shrine. Mr. Watson was predeceased in death by his parents, Elwood J. and Susan F. Watson. Eric leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 31 years, Tanya Watson; his beautiful daughters, Erika and Korey Watson; granddaughter, Maliyah Richards; brothers, Bruce, Stephen (Kerri) and Dr. David Watson; sisters, Marsha Johnson (Alvin), Susan Watson- Holloway and Stephanie Watson; mother-in-law, Dr. Willa Cofield; and a host of beloved family and friends. Visitation will be held Friday, July 22, 2016, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., at Plainfield City Hall Library; Alpha Phi Alpha Ceremony: 6:30 p.m., at Plainfield High School; Masonic Ceremony: 7 p.m., at Plainfield High School; Community Life Celebration: 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Plainfield High School, Plainfield High School; Community Life Celebration: 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Plainfield High School. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 23, 2016, Viewing 10 a.m., Service at 11 a.m.
