SMYRNA - Elva Irene Dill went Home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 24, 2022, from the Silver Lake Nursing Home, Dover. She was born in the Felton/Sandtown area to the late, Alta and Carl Hutson Sr.
Mrs. Dill was a faithful pastor's wife who shared in her husband's ministry. Together they started the Lebanon Church in November of 1957. In 1966, they accepted a 10 month missionary assignment in Guam. After returning home in 1967, they accepted a 13 month tenure in the Holdens Chapel in Sudlersville. Once again, God called them back to Lebanon to be their full time pastor, which they did for a combined total of 31 years, until retirement in December of 1988. After retirement, they continued to fill in various pulpits in the area.
Mrs. Dill will be remembered and cherished as the eyes of her husband Rev. Dill, who was completely blind. She was completely faithful in her calling to always be supportive in the ministry they shared together. She will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Robert L. Dill. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Services for Mrs. Dill will be Friday, July 29, 2022, at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, at 12 noon. A visitation for family and friends will start at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at the Greensboro Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home, please visit us at www.melvinfuneralhome.com to express or send condolences.
