HARRINGTON - Elta M. Englehart, of Harrington, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2008, at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 59.

Mrs. Englehart was born in Scobey, Mont., daughter of the late Ernest F. Schmidt and Clara Munsch.

She was employed by several local companies in the accounting field.

After converting to Catholicism, Mrs. Englehart was actively involved with her Catholic faith, serving as liturgy chairperson and a catechist for many years. She was very faithful and committed to her church, helping out whenever needed, and knew she was heaven-bound.

She fought a courageous battle with cancer for the past five years; however, she always had a positive outlook, always uplifting, and was an inspiration to others.

Mrs. Englehart was a member of the St. Bernadette Catholic Church for the past 26 years.

She was a very devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who loved to spoil her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Harvey; and a sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Vince Harshbarger.

She is survived by her loving husband of 34½ years, Leonard T. "Tom" Englehart of Harrington; her sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen T. and Danielle Englehart of Fort Worth, Texas, and Leonard T. IV and Laurie Englehart of North Platte, Neb.; a daughter, Suzanne K. Englehart of Royersford, Pa.; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Claudia Schmidt of Fairview, Mont., Robert Schmidt of Warner Robins, Ga., and Jack Schmidt of Reserve, Mont.; a sister and brother-in-law, Wionia and Merlin Slaathaug of Karstad, Minn.; her brothers-in-law and their wives, Gary and Judy Englehart of Huron, Ohio, and Eric and Mary Englehart of Powell, Ohio; a sister-in-law and her husband, Diane and James Wessel of Charleston, S.C.; her grandchildren, Charlee, Rebecca and Michael Englehart and Nathanael Hunt; and her numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church, 109 Dixon St., Harrington, where friends may call one hour prior.

Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Millsboro, at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Elta Englehart's name to St. Bernadette's Building Fund, 109 Dixon St., Harrington, DE 19952; or to the Kent County SPCA, 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, DE 19934.
