Elmeda E. Betts, 79

MILTON - Elmeda E. Betts of Milton died Thursday, May 10, 2007, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was 79.

Elmeda was born in Milton, the daughter of the late Daniel B. and Laura C. Lingo Smith.

She was a custodian at H.O. Brittingham School in Milton for 10 years, and a home care provider for several years.

She was a member of Grace Church in Milton and the Milton Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

She enjoyed playing cards, cooking and spending time with friends and family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William F. Betts on August 1988.

She is survived by three daughters, Betty A. Evans of Milford, Carolyn McNatt and her husband, Gene of Milton, and Gail L. Burroughs of Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, Michael Cohan Jr., Marc Evans, Chris Cohan, Heather Evans, J.W. Burroughs and Jaime McNatt; two great-grandchildren, Chase Evans and Dawson Cohan; brother, Frank Smith of Milton; sisters, Dorothy Workman, Phyllis Stout and Eleanor Smith, all of Milton; and friends who were family, Shirley Holston, Gary Evans and Michael Cohan Sr.

A memorial services will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, where friends may call after 6 p.m.

Burial will be private.
