SMYRNA - Ellis E. Martin, Jr., "Eddie" of Smyrna, passed away at Kent General Hospital in Dover, on Monday, June 11, 2012. Mr. Ellis was born Oct. 21, 1959 in New Castle, Del., the son of the late Ellis E. Martin, Sr. and Grace Christopher Martin. He worked for many years for the family business, E. Martin Construction. Eddie loved hunting, fishing, and taking road trips. He was a member of the Liar's Club in Downs Chapel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gary. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Bernadette "Bernie" Martin; two daughters, Anna Hess and her husband Tom of Hartly, Del., and Amanda Lowman and her husband Robert of Smyrna; a son, Russell Martin and his fiancée Gail Troxell of Kenton, Del.; six grandsons; three granddaughters; one in the oven; three brothers, Anthony and Larry Martin, and William "Worm" Seddon; two sisters, Debra Sullivan and Teresa Martin; his dog, Princess; and a lifetime of great friends, close nieces, nephews, and a long list of adopted family. A viewing will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2012 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where funeral services will begin at 6 p.m. Burial will be private.
