DOVER - Ellen L. Attix passed away peacefully on Monday, August 16, 2021, at Silver Lake nursing home.
Mrs. Attix was born April 12, 1928, in Woodside, Del. to the late Thomas C. Dixon and Radie 'Scotten' Dixon.
She spent most of her life in the rural country in and around Dover. As a child she was a farmhand, tom boy at heart, on her parents' farm and went on to build her own with her husband, William E. Attix. There they raised a family of their own. Mrs. Attix enjoyed her flower gardens; she also planted vegetables that she would can and use to cook and bake for her family. She loved family gatherings and dinners. Her favorite hobbies included, crossword, jig-saw puzzles, crocheting, Bingo and going to the racetrack to watch their horse's race. She was a sports fan who enjoyed rooting for her favorite Philadelphia Phillies and any T-ball/baseball game the grandchildren were participating in.
Alongside her parents; Mrs. Attix was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Attix of 66 years; a son, William T. Attix (1965); and all her brothers and sisters.
Mrs. Attix is survived by her three daughters, Donna Clendaniel and her husband Kenny of Dover, Sherrie Ayers and her husband Bill of Magnolia and Patty Carrar and her husband Manny of Dover; grandchildren, Tim Brady (Bridget), Tara Stone, Tracy Attix, Curtus (Tina) Knight, Dylan (Melissa) Carrar, Matt (Holly) Carrar and Jessie (Justin) Wurzel; great grandchildren, Codie (Shelby) Tribbitt, Jordan Brady, Zack Stone, Cameron Stone, Chelsea (Tyler) Carrar, Carly Knight, CeJay Knight, Ayden Carrar, Devon Carrar, twins Colton and Caden Carrar, Kaylyn Wurzel, Daemion Wurzel; great-great-grandchildren, Riley, Jameson, Layla, and one on the way.
Funeral services will be held Noon, Monday August 23, 2021, at Torbert Funeral Chapels South, 1145 E. Lebanon Rd. (Rt10). Friends may gather one hour prior. Interment will follow at Lakeside Cemetery, in Dover.
In Lieu of Flowers the family asks for contributions to be made to Cheswold Firehouse Ladies Auxiliary, 371 Main St., Cheswold, DE 19936.
