Elizabeth V. Hammond passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2018.
Known to friends and family as Bette, she worked as a Police and 911 Dispatcher for the Township of Denville, N.J. prior to retiring in 1999. After moving to Delaware, Bette was active with the Kent County Republican Women's Club and The Delaware Republican Women's Club where she served as President during her years as a member. She was a member of the Ladies of the Elks 1903, and later as an Elk in Dover Lodge 1903. Bette enjoyed attending events with friends and family, and often volunteered her time. As a huge fan of the NY Yankees, Bette enjoyed watching as many games as possible and cheered just as loudly as she would when in Yankee stadium. Her kind heart will be missed by all who knew her.
Bette is survived by her loving husband of fifty years, Henry L. "Hank"; children, Donald and his wife Holly of Camden, Virginia of Magnolia; and grandson Tyler, currently serving in the USMC. Additional family members include Marlene Fulton and Joseph Motika both of Tamaqua, Pa., Bernard Motika and his wife Betty Ann of New Ringold, Pa., Katherine Patterson of Ft. Worth, Texas. She is also survived by many loving in-laws, nieces and nephews, as well as countless friends.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Dover Elks Lodge 1903, 200 Saulsbury Rd., Dover, DE 19904.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions may be made to Delawarehospice.com or Dover Elks Lodge 1903, Dover, DE.
Letters of condolences may be sent and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com
