DOVER - Elizabeth B. Sylvester passed away Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017 at Capitol Nursing Home. Mrs. Sylvester was born Dec. 8, 1919 in Dover, to the late Clarence Burris and Lillie Melvin Burris. She worked for International Latex Corp for about 20 yrs. Mrs. Sylvester was a member of Hartly United Methodist Church and active in the Capital Grange. She enjoyed dancing, eating out with friends and family gatherings. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 1994; siblings, Earl Burris, Virginia Carey, and Katherine Warner; niece, Doris Carey Smith; and nephew, Bill Warner. She is survived by nieces, Betty Jean "BJ" Ryder of Felton, Freda Thomas (Butch) of Federalsburg, MD; nephew, Fred Carey (Mary) of Springfield, VA; and several other nieces and nephews by marriage. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m.Monday, Feb. 6, 2017 at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover, DE 19904. Friends may call one hr prior. Interment will be Private. A thank you to the Acadia Capitol Nursing Home Holly Unit Staff, especially Ginny, Maria, Ms. Annie, and Karen for the excellent care and support that was provided. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Hartly United Methodist Church, 85 Main St., Hartly, DE 19953.
