Elizabeth Ann (Bostick) Dill, age 94, passed peacefully in Bayhealth Hospital – Kent Campus on Friday, August 9, 2024. She was born June 8, 1930 and lived all of her 94 years on her family farm in Felton, DE. "Betty" was the daughter of the late Charles W. Bostick, Sr. and Esther (Banning) Bostick.
Betty graduated from Felton High School in 1948 where she was an excellent student and played on the girls' basketball team. She was very active in her local 4-H Club, holding various offices, & earning several trips and awards – and continued as a member of the Links. She worked at Playtex until her marriage to William Martin Dill in 1953. She was a homemaker before going to work in the Cafeteria at Felton School in 1965 and later worked as a clerk at the Post Office in Felton until her retirement.
Betty was a member of Manship Chapel, a Life Member of the Felton Community Fire Company Auxiliary, a past member & officer of the First State Shrine Club Auxiliary, a past member of the local Coast Guard Auxiliary, a member of the Felton High School Alumni Association, a member of the PRR Employee Veterans Association and current Treasurer of their Auxiliary (a post she has held for more than 25 years), and a published Author.
Betty and Martin made quite the team for over 51 years. They worked together on remodeling houses, raising money for the local Shrine organization, working with the local Coast Guard Auxiliary, and even writing a book on Kent County Cemeteries "Souls in Heaven, Names in Stone" published in 1989.
She loved spending time with her Family. She was a Mom, Mom-Mom, Mom-Mom Betty, Cousin, & Aunt Betty to many. Her Grandson, Greg & Great-Grandson, Luke were each particularly special to her. She never missed one of their baseball games, sporting events, band concerts, or other club activities. She was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles - something she shared with Greg and then Luke, as well. She & Luke even went to their first ever MLB game at Camden Yards together, along with other family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband, Martin Dill in 2005; brother,
Charles W. Bostick, Jr.; sister, Jeannette Voshell; and infant siblings, Reese and Tabitha Bostick. She is survived by her daughter, Esther K. Dill of Felton; daughter & son-in-law, Bonnie E. Dill & Gary S. Gay of Felton; grandson & wife, Greg & Becky Dill and great-grandson, Luke Dill all of Harrington; and many cousins, nieces, nephews & extended family.
Services will be held on Monday, August 19, 2024 at 12:00 noon at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, DE with a viewing from 10:00 AM to noon. Interment will immediately follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden, DE.
