Johnson, 79 GEORGETOWN - Edward Johnson, 'Waples' as he was known to his friends, passed away on May 5, 2012, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md. He was born in Georgetown, son of the late Harry and Emma (Marker) Johnson. He graduated from Georgetown High School with the class of 1950. Waples served in the United States Air Force for four years during the Korean War. He was a carpentry instructor while stationed in Cheyenne, Wyoming and was also stationed for 18 months in Anchorage, Alaska. He was a past member of the Korean War Veterans of Delaware, Chapter 1, for many years. He was preceded in death by a brother, Harry James Johnson, Jr.; and three sisters, Mary Smith, Frances Stockley, and Elsie Willey. He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Joseph) Johnson; a son and his wife, Steve and Donna Johnson of Lancaster, Pa; a daughter and her husband, Linda and Donald Betts of Bridgeville; two grandsons, Michael Betts of Georgetown, and Kyle Johnson of Hellam, Pa; two granddaughters, Laina Betts of Laurel, and Jill Johnson of Boston, Mass; five great-grandsons and a great-granddaughters; and three sisters, Bessie Reynolds of Georgetown, Charlotte Collins and Norwood of Milton, and Loreta Workman and Richard of Seaford. Funeral Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 307 North Bedford Street, Georgetown. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at 11 a.m. at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE.
