CHURCH HILL - Edward John Mozdzen Sr., died Monday, Oct. 13, 2008. He was 88. Mr. Mozdzen was born April 12, 1920 to the late Wojcich Mozdzen and Anna Markovska. After graduating Manchesta High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps where he served during World War II. He returned and married his childhood sweetheart Helen Cochrane. Mr. Mozdzen worked at Granite State Packing Company, a kosher meat packing house. He moved to Washington D.C., after living in Snow Hill, for six years, where he worked with the Department of Agriculture as a poultry health inspector, until moving to Church Hill, permanently in 1969. He retired in 1980. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Queenstown. He loved crabbing, fishing and hunting geese and deer. He also enjoyed perusing the Crumpton Auctions and building bird houses. He is survived by his loving wife; two sons, Edward Mozdzen Jr. of Chestertown, and Robert Mozdzen of Chesapeake Beach; and one daughter, Bette Mozdzen of Centreville. A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1041 MD-3 North, Building A, Gambrills, MD 21054.
