Felton - Edward H. Ward passed away Saturday, May 20, 2017, at home.
Ed was born Aug. 8, 1930, in Boscobel, Wis., to the late Letha Perkins Lord and William H. Ward, both of Wisconsin.
Ed worked on the family farm until joining the U.S. Air Force, where he served in the Berlin Airlift "Project Vittles", during WWII, and the Korean and Vietnam Wars, until his retirement from the military in 1968. After serving his country, Ed owned and operated his own Phillips 66 gas station, in Camden, in the early 70's. He was also well known to those in the community for his employment at Carl King for over 30 years. In addition, in his later years, he was employed at the Delaware Auto Auction. Anyone who knew Ed, knew he had a passion for hunting and fishing and enjoyed the many hunting trips he took with his sons.
Ed was preceded in death by his brother, in 1946, father, in 1980, mother, in 1985, and wife of 60 years, Julie Ward, in 2013; his son David, in 2009.
He is survived by his sons, Greg Ward (and Johanna), of Felton, Tony Ward and his wife, Michelle, of Camden; grandsons; Joshua, of Ft. Meyers, Fla., and Ryan, of Felton; granddaughters, Amanda, of Dover, Jessica, of Felton, Kelsie, of Harrington, Jillian, of Lawrenceville, Ga., and Shannon Mitchell, of Clayton; great-grandchildren, Jaxon Todd and Alivia Ward-Owens, whom will greatly miss bringing "pop" his favorite fried chicken and Kit-Kat bars. In addition, Ed is survived by his cousin, Edith Tisdale; and several other cousins, in Wisconsin; as well as, lifelong friends, Timmy Blawn, of Camden, and Dickie Barnes, of Randolph, Mass.
The family would like to thank Meals-on-Wheels and Vitas Hospice, for the dedicated care provided to Mr. Ward the past few years.
Burial will be private.
Letters of condolences may be sent, and guest book signed at www.torbertfuneral.com
