MILFORD - Edward A. Crooks, of Milford, a World War II Battle of the Bulge survivor, died March 8, 2009, at home. He was 89. Ed was born in Lima, Pa., to the late Warner and Fannie(nee Raezor) Crooks. He served in the Army during World War II where he was the First Infantry Division in the Battle of the Bulge. He earned 3 Bronze stars. Ed worked for Balt Anchor and Chain Company in Chester for many years. He was the superintendent for Cumberland Cemetery for many years. He enjoyed yard sales, gardening, crabbing and spending time with Diana and Bob Shade who cared for him. He loved cats. He was predeceased by his first wife, Kathleen (nee Sullivan); and his second wife, Dorothy Rodgers Crooks. He is survived by sisters, Katherine Neff of Arlington, Va., and Phyllis Crooks of Tennessee; nephew, Charles Bright of St. Louis, Mo.; and Diana and Bob Shade (caregivers) of Milford. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 12, in the J. Nelson Rigby Funeral Home Inc., Baltimore Ave. and Jackson Streets, Media, where friends may call from 1-2 p.m. Interment will be in Cunberland Cemetery, Lima, Pa.
