Ed was born in Manila, Philippines on Jan. 19, 1936. He graduated from medical school at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines and completed his general surgery residency at St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson, Md. and his cardiovascular and thoracic surgery residency at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pa.
Ed practiced cardiovascular and thoracic surgery in Seaford, Georgetown and Millsboro, until his retirement in 2006.
Ed enjoyed many things during his life, especially music and playing the piano. Most of all, he adored his grandchildren, who affectionately called him "Dee" and he loved his family unconditionally. He was always cheerful and had everlasting positive outlook on life, which will be missed tremendously.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Julio and Ida Yatco. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Vivien, of 56 years; his daughter, Elizabeth Olsen Groller (Steve), and his son, Edward Yatco (Shirly); his grandchildren, Nicholas and Maia Olsen and Torr and Elle Yatco; his two sisters, Irene Yatco and Emma Dizon (June); his two brothers, June Yatco and Manual Yatco (Bing); and numerous other very close relatives whose hearts he touched throughout his life.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 528 E. Stein Hwy, Seaford Del. 19973. A reception to remember his life will follow at the church's fellowship hall.
