GEORGETOWN - Edith L. Short of Georgetown passed away Saturday, March 31, 2007, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 83.
Edith was born in London, daughter of the late James John and Grace (Guidott) Askew. She was married in England on July 5, 1945, to Emory Short. She was a British war-bride.
She was a homemaker and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She also loved animals.
Edith was a member of the Milford Senior Center and enjoyed traveling.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Emory Short, on Nov. 6, 2001; three sisters; and one brother.
She is survived by three daughters, Janis S. Nickerson and her husband Bill of State College, Pa., Maxine S. Johnson and her husband Ronnie of Georgetown, and Denise S. Leyh and her husband Jim of Georgetown; seven grandchildren, Alex Nickerson, Abby Nickerson, Blair Johnson, Erin Kesselring, James Leyh, Alexis Leyh and Chelsea Leyh; one brother, Ronnie Askew of Mildenhall, England; one brother-in-law, Ralph C. Short of Dagsboro; and a cousin, George Collins of Lincoln.
Funeral services will be Friday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call one hour prior.
Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Georgetown.
Contributions may be made to Nutter Marvel Museum, 510 S. Bedford St., Georgetown, DE 19947.
