FRANKFORD - Edith Beckett Wells, 95, of Frankford, departed this life on Friday, August 29, 2014, at her residence. Born in Frankford, she was the daughter of the late George Richard Beckett and Jessie Long Waters. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Benson Braxton and Howard Wells. Mrs. Wells was a member of Antioch A.M.E. Church in Frankford where she served as a member of Choir #1. She was a homemaker. Loving memories will be cherished by: one daughter, Judy (Tyrone) Peters McCray of Frankford; one stepson, Lester R. Wells of Newport News, Va.; five grandchildren, Annette (Randall) Craig of Jacksonville, Fla., Earl (Sherlanda) Braxton of Bowie, Md., Simone Braxton of Del., Robin (Calvin) Bell of Mullica Hill, N.J., and Crystal Braxton of Philadelphia, Pa.; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one daughter-in-law, Janice Braxton of N.J.; one sister-in-law, Lonnie Allmond of Atlantic City, N.J.; one brother-in-law, Lee Wells of Philadelphia; two goddaughters; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. In addition to her parents and husbands, she was also preceded in death by one son, George "Peanut" Braxton, one great-grandson, Grayling V. Craig, Jr., four sisters-in-law, and two brothers-in-law. Mrs. Wells will lie in repose on Saturday, September 6, 2014, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Antioch A.M.E. Church, 194 Clayton Avenue, Frankford. The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Rev. Zakiya Y. B. Griffin will be the Officiant and Rev. Dania R. Griffin will be the Eulogist. Interment will follow at Antioch A.M.E. Church Cemetery, Frankford.
