REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - Douglas McKinley Pinder Jr. of Redwood City died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006, in Kaiser Hospital, San Mateo. He was 59.
Mr. Pinder was born Dec. 30, 1946, in Dover, Del., son of Alverta I. (Young) Pinder and the late Douglas M. Pinder Sr.
He moved to Redwood City in 1969, where he served in the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Pinder met and married Ann Parker in 1974.
He was employed for over 20 years by the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, where he made many friends and lasting relationships.
Mr. Pinder was very active in local community development.
He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, like playing his guitar, fishing and gardening.
Mr. Pinder will truly be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving mother, Alverta I. Pinder of Greenwood, Del.; three daughters, Irma "Amy" Horsey of Laurel, Del., Twanda Parker of Alabama and Melinda Parker of Redwood City; four sons and a daughter-in-law, Walter Parker of San Francisco and Keith and April Parker, William Parker and James Parker, all of Redwood City; three sisters, Janet Pinder-Griffin of Boston, Grace Pinder-Starkey of Newark, Del., and Stephanie Pinder-Hopkins of Temple Hills, Md.; a special friend, Kathryn Thompson; a dear friend, Vickie L. Porter; and a host of grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Services were in Jones Mortuary Chapel, East Palo Alto.
