Dorothy S. Jones

DOVER - Dorothy S. Jones of Dover, formerly of Greenwood, died on Monday, Sept. 24, 2018 at Cadia Capitol Nursing Home in Dover.
Mrs. Jones was born July 17, 1923 in Smyrna, daughter of the late Harvey Short and Elizabeth Mae Cole Short.
Her biggest enjoyment in life was music, singing, playing music, and teaching.
She graduated from Smyrna High School and West Chester State Teachers College in Pennsylvania.
Mrs. Jones moved to Greenwood around 1950 where she met her future husband, Charles Jones. They married March 12, 1952 in Laurel. She taught music in Seaford for 37 years, retiring in 1983.
She was a member of Greenwood UMC and belonged to UMW. She loved singing solos on special occasions.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; three brothers, Foster, Earl, and Arthur; and two sisters, Esther McCrystal and Ruth Singleton.
She is survived by two nephews, James McCrystal and Pam, and Harvey Singleton and Linda both of Dover; and a niece, Ruth Ann Mitchell and Jack of Dover.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, Oct. 1, 2018 at 1 p.m. at the Fleischauer Funeral Home, 16 W. Market St., Greenwood, DE 19950. Friends may call one hour prior.
Interment will be held at St. Johnstown Cemetery, Greenwood.
