MIDDLETOWN - Dorothy "Dot" R. Brincklé of Middletown passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2007. She was 86.
Born in Philadelphia, on Sept. 22, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Esther (Wilson) and Raymond McClintock.
Dorothy worked for the Emily P. Bissell Hospital in Wilmington as a secretary for a number of years.
Following her retirement from the hospital, she became an active volunteer within the hospital community.
In addition to volunteering at Bissell Hospital, Dorothy enjoyed volunteering at Christiana Hospital in Newark.
In appreciation for the countless hours she dedicated to the two hospitals, Dorothy was awarded the Governor's Outstanding Volunteer award pin.
Dorothy was a member of the MOT Senior Center, as well as the Ladies Auxiliary 3792 to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, both in Middletown.
She attended St. Anne's Episcopal Church occasionally.
Dot, as she was affectionately known by her friends, had a fondness for animals, which was evident in the way she cared for her three cats.
Baking cakes for any occasion was a passion Dot loved to share with her many friends and family.
She enjoyed spending quiet evenings with her husband while she crocheted.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her only child, a beautiful daughter, Sandra Bowser in December of 2001.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Gordon V.A. Brincklé; a sister, Marian Showers of Latrobe, Pa.; a brother, Donald McClintock of N.J.; a special grandson, Thomas M. Bowser of Delaware, Ohio; two great-grandchildren; a special friend, Kendall Messick of New Jersey; and a very dear and devoted friend and care provider, Margaret "Peggy" Bowser of Middletown.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, 212 N. Broad Street, Middletown, where family and friends may attend a viewing Monday evening from 7-9 p.m.
Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions can be made in Mrs. Brincklé's memory to Delaware Hospice, Inc., 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901; or to Lums Pond Animal Hospital, 3052 Wrangle Hill Bear, DE 19701 to provide medical assistance to pets in need.
