Doris McClellan, 82
DOVER - Doris McClellan, of Dover, died Thursday, May 29, 2008, at home. She was 82.
She was born on Jan. 8, 1926, to the late Philip and Rose Yaffe.
Mrs. McClellan met her husband while working as an airplane mechanic in Rome, N.Y., while he was serving in the military.
Mrs. McClellan was a member of the American Red Cross, an active member of the Harrington Senior Center, Harvest Years Senior Center and also the Dover Modern Maturity.
She was also a member of the Harrington Moose Lodge, and Viola Ruritan Club.
Mrs. McClellan loved to travel and two weeks ago she had gone to Myrtle Beach with the Harrington Senior Center.
She loved to travel and play cards at the Harrington Senior Center.
Most of all she was very proud of her grandchildren and their accomplishments.
She was preceded in death by husband of 49 and a half years, Samuel A. McClellan Jr.
She is survived by sons, Arthur D. McClellan and wife Diane of Jackson, Calif., George P. McClellan of Georgetown, and Paul A. McClellan and wife Terri of Ione, Calif.; daughters, Margie L. MacKenzie and husband William of Felton, and Marie Lyons and husband Thomas of Felton; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a close friend, Mary Frances Gott.
Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Thursday in Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington, where friends may call one hour prior.
Private family interment will be held at a later date.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE, or Harrington Senior Center, 102 Fleming St., Harrington, DE in Mrs. McClellan's honor.
